Improv for Anxiety Group
Offered In person
“Experience anxiety relief through fun, therapeutic improv - helping you build confidence and embrace imperfection.”
Improv for Anxiety & Self-Trust: A Playful Approach to Healing
Improv is all about being in the moment—trusting yourself without overthinking. And while that might sound scary, it’s actually something we all did naturally as kids when we played. This group is about reconnecting with that part of you—the one that knows how to show up, take risks, and have fun.
We'll be using beginner-friendly improv games, specially chosen for this kind of group. Along the way, we’ll weave in elements of IFS (aka “parts work”) and somatic grounding techniques to help you move through any fear that comes up. You won’t be alone—everyone will be stepping outside their comfort zone together in a safe, supportive space.

You loosened the grip of perfectionism and allowed yourself to simply…be.
You embraced the courage to express yourself, even when it felt messy or imperfect.
But right now…
You might find yourself:
Worrying and overthinking about what others think.
Holding back out of fear of making mistakes or “getting it wrong”.
Feeling uncomfortable speaking up or taking up space
Comparing yourself to others around you.
Struggling with perfectionism and feeling like you’re “never good enough”.
Deep down, you know...
You deserve to feel free and comfortable as your authentic self.
You have so much to offer when you can trust your voice and your presence.
By joining this group, you can…
Build more confidence, freedom, and self trust through playful experiences.

About the facilitator:
Hi! I’m Bella, a licensed therapist specializing in trauma recovery, anxiety relief and helping people reconnect with their bodies. I created this group because I know anxiety can feel paralyzing - and how powerful it can be to face it in a safe, playful environment. I believe healing doesn’t always have to be serious - it can be messy, fun, and even joyful.
Improv has been a game-changer for me personally - and for my clients. I started practicing improv in 2020 to face my fears and work on my performance anxiety (I was terrified when I started). But, as time went on, my anxiety truly started to lessen, and I was actually having fun. I’ve even performed in 3 live shows so far! Improv has been one of the most freeing things I’ve ever done for myself.
I’m here to guide you through this process with compassion, warmth, and a lot of laughter along the way.

FAQs
-
No prior improv or acting experience is needed! This group is designed for beginners and is focused on using improv as a tool for self-expression, confidence-building, and reducing anxiety. The exercises are supportive, low-pressure, and tailored to help you step outside your comfort zone in a way that feels safe and empowering.
-
Traditional improv classes focus on developing performance skills—like comedic timing, scene work, and quick thinking—to become better at improv itself. This therapy group, however, isn’t about becoming “good” at improv. Instead, we use improv as a tool for healing, self-expression, and emotional growth.
There’s no pressure to be funny or perform. The focus is on practicing presence, spontaneity, and self-trust in a supportive, judgment-free space. Improv exercises help ease anxiety, encourage playfulness, and build confidence—all without the need to “get it right.”
-
That’s completely okay! This group is designed with anxiety in mind, and you’re never forced to do anything you’re not ready for. Participation is always at your own pace—you can start by just watching, easing in slowly, or choosing lower-pressure ways to engage.
The goal isn’t to push through anxiety but to create a supportive space where you can experiment with stepping outside your comfort zone in a way that feels safe. Over time, many people find that their anxiety softens as they build trust in themselves and the group.
-
Adult groups are capped at eight people. Spaces in each group are limited so that members feel safe and have plenty of opportunity to share and connect with each other and their group leader.
-
Yes! Creating a safe and supportive space is a top priority. Everyone who joins the group signs a Group Agreement that outlines confidentiality guidelines—like keeping what’s shared in the group private and respecting each other’s anonymity.
While no group can guarantee absolute confidentiality, we all commit to creating an environment where everyone feels safe to share. What’s said in the group stays in the group.
-
While we do not take insurance for groups, you may be eligible to use out-of-network benefits, depending on your insurance. Contact your insurance company to see if you have out-of-network benefits, and what they apply to. Some companies will reimburse you for 60-80% of the cost of each session after your deductible is met.
-
Absolutely! This group can be a great complement to individual therapy. Improv-based therapy can add to the work you're already doing by giving you a space to experiment with new ways of expressing yourself and engaging with others.
If you’re currently in therapy, you may want to check in with your therapist to see how this group could fit into your overall healing process.
-
Group therapy is as effective as individual therapy for a wide range of symptoms and conditions, and it is more efficient, allowing a single therapist to reach many people at once. In many cases, groups can be even more effective than individual therapy, thanks to the stigma reduction and solidarity that people experience in the presence of their peers.” - APA.org
