Individual Therapy

One-on-one Therapy for Adults and Teens in FL

Deep, personalized healing for adults and teens ages 15 and older. Our work together is tailored to you - your story, your struggles, and your strengths.

I’ll help you gain deep insight into your struggles, identify unhelpful patterns, and create the change you desire in a way that feels attainable. Together, we’ll work toward embodying the person you truly want to be.

Is Individual Therapy Right for you?

Whether you’re new to therapy or have already done some self-work, you might still feel stuck in patterns that are hard to change. Individual therapy gives you the space to understand yourself on a deeper level, work through what’s been holding you back, and move toward real, lasting change.

You may benefit from therapy if you:

  • Have a hard time relaxing, always feeling on edge or waiting for the next bad thing to happen

  • Grew up in a chaotic or unsafe environment, and it still impacts you in ways you can’t shake

  • Struggle with closeness in relationships—either pulling away or clinging too tightly

  • Feel disconnected from your body or get overwhelmed by emotions you don’t fully understand

  • Feel weighed down by guilt, shame, or the fear of not being "good enough"

  • Want to understand how past wounds still shape present-day fears, reactions, and self perception.

I provide individual therapy for:

Complex Trauma

When trauma or abuse happens repeatedly, over time, it shapes how you see yourself and the world. I’ll help you heal by reconnecting to your body, emotions, and sense of inner safety.

Anxiety Relief

Anxiety isn’t just in your mind - it’s your body’s response to perceived threat, keeping you stuck in fight, flight, or freeze. I’ll help you bring your nervous system back to safety so you can feel more grounded and at ease.

Shame & Unworthiness

Shame can make you feel small, unloveable, or like you’ll never be enough. I’ll help you heal the root of these feelings and build a sense of self-worth that isn’t based on perfection or approval.

1. The Intake Session

Our first session is a blend of structured questions and organic conversation to get to know you, your history, and what’s bringing you to therapy. While I’ll ask intentional questions, we’ll also slow down, notice what’s coming up for you, and begin to weave in some light processing. This sets the foundation for our work together.

There’s no pressure to share everything right away - it’s about building trust and safety first, letting your story and experiences unfold naturally.

What Sessions Look Like

2. Building Resources & Strengthening Self-Understanding

Before diving deep, most people need time to build inner resources and strengthen their ability to regulate their nervous system. During this phase, we focus on:

  •    Learning how to track your body’s messages and recognize what it needs - This may include breathwork, guided movement, or tuning into body sensations.
•    Introducing Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you get to know the different parts of yourself and their roles.
  •    Exploring attainable tools and practices to create a sense of safety between sessions, tailored to your personal needs.
 •    Using EMDR to install positive resources you may need like a secure attachment figure, nurturing, patience, or confidence.
•    Making space in sessions to process triggers, explore emotions, and actively practice handling challenges in real time.

3. Deep Healing & Trauma Processing

Once we’ve established a strong foundation—where you feel more resourced, better able to manage triggers, and have a deeper understanding of your inner world—we begin deeper trauma work and/or wounded inner child healing. At this stage, we may decide together whether to focus primarily on a specific modality, such as IFS or EMDR, or take an integrative approach by combining them based on what feels most effective for you.

Each session is a balance of structure and flow—we move forward with intention, but always honor what’s present for you that day. Whether it’s a part of you that needs attention, a trigger that came up, or a deeper layer ready to be explored, therapy is a space for safe exploration of whatever is unfolding for you organically.

Types of therapy offered

  • (IFS) Internal Family Systems Therapy

A transformative approach that helps you explore, heal, and integrate protective or wounded parts of yourself—each holding its own emotions, memories, and roles. Also known as 'parts work,' this therapy helps you develop self-awareness and a more compassionate relationship with yourself.

  • EMDR Therapy

A powerful, research-backed method for processing and healing distressing or traumatic memories that may be stuck in your nervous system. This structured approach can bring profound relief from trauma, anxiety, and emotional pain.

  • Somatic Therapy

A body-centered approach to healing that focuses on the deep connection between your mind and body. By using breathwork, movement, and mindfulness, Somatic Therapy helps you process and release trauma, stress, and emotions stored physically.

  • Experiential Therapy

A hands-on, immersive approach that goes beyond traditional talk therapy. Through movement, improv, role-playing, art, or nature-based exercises, this method helps you access and express emotions that may be difficult to reach through words alone.

 FAQs

  • To schedule your first session, click the 'Contact Us' button on the right for all of our information. Alternatively, you can email me directly at Bella@traumatherapyfl.com to set up a free 15-minute phone call. I typically respond within 24-48 hours, though responses may take a bit longer if the email comes in over the weekend.

  • I offer a brief 15-minute phone call where you can ask any questions about my approach and determine if we’re a good fit to work together. This call is a great way to get a feel for what to expect in therapy and to see if my style resonates with you.

  • Individual Therapy 60 minute session - $180

  • I do! I accept Aetna, United Healthcare, Oscar Health, and Oxford.

I only accept a limited amount of insurance clients. If you’d like to use your insurance benefits to pay for therapy, ask me for more info during our consultation.

If you have any other insurance plan with out-of-network benefits, I can give you a receipt for sessions (also known as a “superbill”) that you can submit for reimbursement.

  • If weekly therapy sessions aren’t within your budget, we can discuss alternative options, such as adjusting the frequency of sessions to better fit your needs.

My practice also offers a limited number of sliding scale spots, which means I offer a reduced rate based on your financial situation. These spots are secured for 12 sessions, and reassessed at the 12th session, so an opening may become available. If there are no current openings, feel free to reach out, and I can add you to the waitlist.

Additionally, group therapy is available and may be a more affordable option compared to individual sessions. Please reach out to discuss what works best for your needs.

  • I offer both in person and virtual services! Click the "contact us" button on the top right corner of our site to find our address and map of our in-person location.

Virtual sessions are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant software that's easy to use and convenient for client’s who prefer remote therapy.

  • We offer either 60 minute or 90 minute session options.

90 minute sessions are most commonly chosen for EMDR, once we begin the deeper processing sessions.

As for long term, we will discuss your personal needs during your first couple of sessions. People typically commit to therapy for 3 to 6 months, dependent on the reason they are coming in. This time frame at a minimum is recommended for you to experience the progress you desire.

Some people choose to stay in therapy for a longer time, 8 months to over a year. In these cases, both the therapist and client agree that it's beneficial to continue meeting for additional skill building or support.

  • My cancellation policy requires a 24-hour notice for rescheduling or canceling a session. If a session is canceled less than 24 hours in advance, the full rate of the session will be charged.

However, I do allow one 'freebie' during the duration of our work together, understanding that life happens. This freebie can only be used for one late cancellation. After that, the full session rate will apply.

This policy helps me maintain an effective schedule and ensures that I can offer open spots to other clients who may need them. If something urgent arises, please reach out to discuss, and we can address it on a case-by-case basis.

  • Therapy can feel like a different experience depending on the approach, the therapist, and where you are in your healing journey. Sometimes traditional methods or previous therapists may not have been the right fit, or perhaps you weren’t ready to engage with certain parts of yourself yet. In trauma therapy, healing often takes time and requires creating a sense of safety and trust before deeper work can be done.

If therapy didn’t work in the past, it doesn’t mean it won’t now. My approach is tailored to meet you where you are, focusing on creating a safe, supportive environment where we can work at a pace that feels right for you.

  • Choosing the right therapy depends on your unique needs and goals. Each approach I offer can be effective, but they work in different ways. During our initial sessions, we’ll talk about what you’re experiencing and what feels most relevant for you, and I’ll help guide you to the approach that best aligns with where you are in your healing journey.

We can also combine these therapies as needed, depending on what feels most helpful for you.
